Our Approach
We manage your interior design project from conception to completion. We will present custom designs, provide guidance through every multi-faceted decision, and manage the purchasing and installation of each item. We collaborate with industry partners – including contractors, millworkers, wallpaper hangers, carpet installers, workrooms and art consultants – to bring your project to life.
Ways to work with us
When brought in at the start of your project, Opaline will serve as your project lead, managing every detail from the ground up. We integrate all processes, oversee the team, and make key decisions to ensure the timeline and budget are seamlessly executed.
When your project is already underway with an architect and builder, Opaline Interiors steps in as a design collaborator. We focus on delivering a tailored design experience, working alongside your team to enhance the project while supporting the overall vision.
The Five Phases of Design
Envision
Opaline Interiors begins by diving deep into your project goals and desires to establish a clear plan. After getting to know your family, home, and lifestyle, the studio prepares materials for an Envision Meeting, presenting preliminary plans, concepts, a timeline, and a design fee estimate.
Plan
Once a plan is established at the Envision Meeting and the full-service design agreement is signed, Opaline Interiors Studio conducts a detailed site assessment. The studio finalizes the project budget, timeline, initial concepts, and floor plans. We coordinate with team members, such as the architect or contractor, if required by the scope.
Create & Curate
In this creative phase, Opaline Interiors presents detailed floor plans, furniture layouts, custom furnishings, advising on construction materials if necessary. The studio prepares visual presentations for each space, including finishes, millwork drawings, and 3D sketches, collaborating with you to finalize all selections.
Implement
This is when our studio does the heavy lifting. Opaline will document, purchase, and track the selections made for your project. If your project includes construction, we will develop a drawing and specification package that includes floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, detail drawings, and product details for your contractor’s use. If required, we develop a scope of work along with our drawings for use in the contractor bidding and pricing process.
Once a contractor is on board, Opaline will collaborate with them and other team members to ensure the construction is proceeding according to plan. If your project does not include construction, we will use this time to order products, review custom furniture drawings, and iron out details for window treatments, artwork, and accessories.
Realize
Once the construction component of your project nears completion, Opaline will walk through with you and the project team to ensure all work meets our design intent and quality standards. We then schedule installations for furnishings and decorative elements such as window treatments, wallpaper, carpets, and artwork. This is when your project comes to life, and the design vision materializes into your dream space.
Each project is completely unique in scope. The design fee is customized per project for each phase.
